An Odd Trend

An odd trend.

Our culture is rapidly going to hell in a hand basket. The murder of millions of babies is being celebrated and fought for by our culture. Sexual perversion of all kinds are being held up as good and right, and those who don’t conform are increasingly attacked. The majority of professing Christians say nothing in response.

A super bowl halftime show sparks some Christians to criticize the overt sexuality of it, to which many of the previously silent Christians come out in defense of the show - using sarcasm and apathy to morally posture themselves above those who had a problem with it, and make it seem like those who had a problem with it are just over-reacting, annoying, and stupid.

So, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, have we become infected with the problem of not speaking against evil when we see it, yet eye rolling and shouting down other Christians when they do? Have we become so in love with the world that we can no longer tell the difference between what God has declared is good and evil? Do we make excuses for things we love, even though we know they break the heart of God?

What in the world is going on?

Isaiah 5:20-21 gives us a sobering reminder, that I think we all need a good dose of now and again. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!”
