Science is Always Behind
For how wonderful science is, our oceans, which make up the majority of our planet, are vastly uncharted and unknown. Scientists used to think that the amount of species on the planet ranged somewhere between 400,000 and 100 million, and now land somewhere around 8 million, they think. They're not completely sure. A study published by PLoS Biology says that a staggering 86% of all species on land and 91% of those in the seas have yet to be discovered, described, and catalogued...which could be a skewed statistic, but again, they admittedly don't know for sure.
Point is, these are guesses, which combined with trial and error over time give us facts and ideas that we pass down and build upon, which is how humans have made progress with industry and technology, but again, so much of science is simply observation, not necessarily perfect understanding or explanations. "Ouch! Fire is hot. Don't touch that." is a fundamental science fact that we kind of have to observe when we begin life. It's a true thing. Humans then build from there to create functioning society and a workable understanding of what this all is.
So, with all these (and many, many other) insane gaps in knowledge, it legitimately makes me wonder how people came to believe in the man-made theory of evolution as the means for our existence? It just seems so lazy, and arrogant even to think we have a handle on this stuff because some guy observed some finches - that stayed finches. Haha, I know he did a little more than that, but seriously, not one single example of a kind changing into another kind exists. Not one. The Bible, however, shows all sorts of obvious truths about this earth before people ever discovered them to be true.
Truth is, it takes more faith to believe in evolution and science's explanations of our origins than it is an ancient book that claims the earth's origins via a Creator God / Divine being. We all feel it, like music. It's built in to the fabric of this universe and told to ignore by messages everywhere by humans guessing. With how crazy this planet is, and space, and stars...all of that...I just don't wanna put too much trust in humans. Humans built the Titanic, but also sank it. The book, the Bible, will hold up under the most intense scrutiny where evolution and most other fun guesses about our origins fall apart. It's not just another religion. It's literally, the story of this world and the God who made it.
God's absolute, infinite power and presence extends beyond the edges of the universe. My personal struggle is, within only that type of thinking, I can feel so small, insignificant and unworthy to even ask for anything from the Lord. Like I would be bothering Him, or that it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. How could He really care about ME? BUT...I realized something tonight. The same God that created the earth and stretches across the entire universe, also very intimately engineered a carbon molecule. Designed it from nothing. We aren't even able to actually comprehend the sizes of the things the Lord has made. Not only did He create more than a centillion stars and knows them by name, but the Bible says that He personally, carefully wove each one of us together in the womb. He does care about us. Each one of us. Not only does He walk upon the rings of Saturn, He knows the exact number of hairs on our heads. Life, pain, other people...these things can point you to thinking you don't mean anything. Praise be to God! It's not true!
