A Counterfeit Christianity

I’m certainly not a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but a day is coming (and is now here) when there will be a version of Christianity that is acceptable by cultural standards that denies the teachings, commands, qualifications, warnings, attributes, fruit, truth, power, and purity of God’s Word and replaces it with a human-focused, emotionally-driven, sexually-charged, licentious, legalistic, and lawless abomination built on the ever shifting sands of political and cultural motivations. It’ll be called Christianity - complete with a version of Jesus who embraces everything He Himself has already condemned!

Following the “Jesus” of this version of Christianity will be a perfectly acceptable thing to do in our culture. It won’t be a problem! Following the true Jesus of the Bible, however, will. Our condemnation won’t come from saying that we follow Jesus or that we are a Christian since those same terms will exist but with different definitions. Instead, the opposition will come from a lack of conformity to what we all know as, “inclusivity.” A very positive, yet very misleading word! We will be accused of not being like Christ, and not being loving - and many Bible-believing Christians will change their stance so as to follow Jesus, but it won’t actually be Him.

To cut through potential future confusion, we must continue to examine ourselves with fear and trembling to ensure we are in the true faith, humbly submitted to the living and active Word of God and not our own wavering emotions! We must continue to sure up our biblical convictions now so when the pressure mounts (and it will), we won’t cave and bend the knee to the world. We do this because truth matters! We don’t just worship a god of our own invention, we worship the actual, living, breathing, sovereign, holy, perfect, and present triune God who has revealed Himself and His desires for the world and the church in His everlasting Word. He is faithful! He will complete His work in us. Let’s just be so sure not to put our heads in the sand and get swept into something that looks, sounds, and feels like Jesus, but is actually completely counterfeit and fundamentally anti-Christ.
