In such a heartbreaking way, progressive thought has poisoned the spiritual well.
Today, many professing Christians have turned their backs on Jesus’ bride out of a misplaced intellectual/moral superiority as defined by decades of targeted, intentional persuasion from the world.
Bathed in culture and politics, their faith begins to deconstruct and disintegrate. But many times, only after accusing the church of doing what they themselves have actually done...
Worshiped politics and culture instead of Christ.
This isn’t to say the church is perfect. It’s absolutely not. Our sanctification is daily. This is why we need robust teaching from His Word, which many individual churches today just don’t do. In an attempt to avoid offense, many pastors have decided not to preach the full counsel of God. They’ve even put forth a truncated gospel, void of God’s eventual judgement and wrath upon sin. In turn, false converts have abounded - believing that Biblical truth is just as mailable as their pastor preached it.
Messages preached while leaning on our own understanding will produce false converts who then live by their own understanding.
It’s no wonder that American evangelicalism is being targeted and denigrated. We end up creating a church built on self, instead of on the foundation of God’s Word. Christians are then manipulated into thinking that patriotism is worshiping the country instead of God somehow. We conflate voting Biblically with worshipping the country. But you see, voting as close to biblical principals as possible is not worshiping America - it’s being faithful. The political values and principles held by a Christian appear to be wrong and evil if you hold the world’s definitions of what’s right.
Right now many have been indoctrinated into destroying our collective American history and culture under the name of “justice”, while embracing broken values of chaos and instability. These values encourage the holder to indulge in their anger, rid themselves of self-control, justify their actions, blame-shift, further divide, and then demand adherence. It’s the OPPOSITE of the gospel.
For the believer, this country is absolutely not our home. Jesus WILL return and right every single wrong. The sins of racism, the horror of sex trafficking, the holocaust of abortion, the pornification of our culture, the destruction of marriage, the twisting of His Word, and even the hatred people feel in their hearts toward fellow human beings and countrymen. We trust Him. While here on earth, call it controversial, lame, unpopular, or the new favorite phrase “tone deaf”.
I love our country.
I support our leaders.
I’m grateful to be an American.
I support those who serve in the military to fight tyranny.
I’m thankful for those who gave their lives to give us freedom.
