No Absolute Truth! Is That True?

There absolutely IS absolute truth!

Debating what the truth is, or claiming that it exists, but is unknowable to humans is actually a meaningful thing to discuss and pursue! But the idea that there is no absolute truth is truly, simply, a logical fallacy. Interestingly though, it’s seemingly only held by those who persist in changing the moral ideals of society away from what the Bible has established. There’s a clear distinction, and isn’t it interesting that those who vouch for a lack of knowable truth also never happen to default to what the Bible describes as “holiness?” It never happens - because I believe that holding to the “no absolute truth” position is all just a conscious or subconscious front driven by ulterior motives.

Since absolute truth does unquestionably exist, even among those who try to say they don’t believe in it, the methods for how that extends to morality starts to get very emotional and manipulative. We’ve all been taken in by this at one point or another, some more than others. The principle of absolute truth drives us to seek the answers to nearly every moral question. At the current moment, rather than seeking the readily evident truth on the value and respective differences between men and women, some in our society don’t want truth. Rather than asking what the implications for society, both genders, children, sports, medicine, (the list goes on) would be if we tinker and change what’s true for some people’s emotional whims, we instead simply go ahead and drive into things that don’t make sense.

Then, because logic would absolutely win the day in a simple debate, the conversation turns into the idea that if you don’t agree, that you’re hateful. Then, there’s a division. Either blindly follow what everybody has said, even though it totally doesn’t make sense, or be considered hateful. The vast majority of people don’t want controversy. Most absolutely don’t want to be considered hateful, so…here we are as a society. The "us vs. them" mentality can definitely exist among Christians in a way that's harmful and wrong, but make no mistake, it also exists among many who profess that there is no absolute truth. If you profess to believe in God, you are absolutely the "them" in that equation.

So, rather than lean into our moral and spiritual responsibilities as Christ followers, we tend to avoid criticism by willingly turning a blind eye to these new dictates that don't make sense. But it's the denial and abandonment of absolute truth for the emotional whims of what we want but can’t have that is a terminal cancer on our world. So, for those who are called to Biblical fidelity, it must be understood that we will increasingly be accused of extremism, fundamentalism, anti-science rhetoric, hatefulness, and bigotry. We should not be moved or taken in, but rather, see it for what it is - just a facade. It's not intellectually honest, it's not based in any kind of fact or reality, and to combat your stance, your character, motives, beliefs, and intelligence will be assassinated. We must do our best to ignore the natural desire for comfort, and embrace the idea that because Christ was hated, we will be too - and the reward will be great. We must love those who persecute us. We must share Jesus. We must not back away from the discomfort. Don’t forget that the people themselves are NOT the enemy! It’s the spiritual battle that rages on. 🔥
