Silence Of The Supernatural

I think because of the great decrease in Biblical literacy and uprising of entertainment culture within Christianity, modern Christians are so eager to see and be a part of some great move of God that they forget to just be obedient now in faith. Many are tricked into diving head first into distraction movements, hand-crafted by 21st century humans that marginalize the Bible, utilize dazzling spectacles, attention grabbing resources, hollow entertainment, easy believeism tactics, and overblown promises that capitalize on those desperately seeking validation for their belief and attempt to find it in these various experiences rather than the true source.

What we see in scripture is large periods of time passing where God isn't overtly manifest, and right now, we have the promise from scripture about the miraculous forgiveness of sin until Jesus returns! We’re in what could be called “the gospel era”, meaning the full revelation of God’s intention for this world has been revealed! We now believe in faith, respond in obedience and worship, and endure patiently until He returns or calls us home. God does whatever He wants, but He will never invalidate His Word to do so. Don't be so consumed with being a part of something crazy and awesome here and now as much as just being committed to submission and obedience to Him and His Word - because the crazy awesome miracle we get to experience now is forgiveness and salvation through Christ, and the thing we're truly looking forward to is eternity in peace and glory with Him.

We may not experience the end times or personally witness the extraordinarily rare supernatural in this life, but either way, we ought to be faithful to trust and obey for the specific, short season in which we've been placed here on earth. Suffering will happen. Trials will come. Our God is faithful, and we’re told that He who began a good work in you will see it unto completion. It’s not going to be easy, so stop looking for validation in everything but the beautiful treasure of God’s perfect, heavenly source of truth and revelation to us - His Word. It’s infinitely more valuable than so many modern churches and organizations would have you believe.

“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” John 17:14-16
